Ethereum core developers have scheduled the Glamsterdam upgrade to activate on the Hoodi test network on October 26 at 17:42:48 UTC, corresponding to epoch 132,352 and slot 4,235,264. The deployment represents another preliminary testing phase following its activation on the Sepolia testnet on October 6, giving client teams an additional staging environment before establishing a mainnet schedule.
The testnet deployment will raise Hoodi’s gas limit to 200 million. The upgrade introduces two primary protocol changes: enshrined proposer-builder separation, which integrates block construction roles directly into the core protocol to decrease reliance on third-party relay setups, and block-level access lists designed to allow parallel validation of block data. Glamsterdam also alters gas accounting models for state creation and access.
Validators and node operators on Hoodi must update both execution and consensus clients ahead of the activation date. The Ethereum Foundation noted that the 200 million testnet gas limit serves as an experimental benchmark rather than a commitment to quadruple mainnet throughput, with no immediate action required from end users on the main chain.
